In Desert Gold, Honed; you notice the tight ripples, which characterize Desert Gold, as a visual illusion of texture instead of being actually bumpy. The reddish/black dots throughout the stone are actually garnets that have been bi-sected as a result of the honing process.  Becuase the garnets are harder than the actual stone, you will notice that they take polishing better and will be shinier than the rest of the stone.

The color variation you can expect with Desert Gold, Honed will be as its natural state: you will see golds and silvers with a tendency to veer to greens or orange.
